What preparation actually involves: lifting the old floor and its gripper, taking out tacks and staples, fitting new gripper where carpet is going down, and putting in door bars where one floor meets another. Then the base itself — latex or a levelling compound where it is uneven, and the right underlay for whatever is going on top.
Every one of those is priced separately on your quote. Nothing is assumed to be included: not underlay, not gripper and door bars, not uplift, not moving furniture, not levelling. That is deliberate — you only pay for what your room actually needs, and you can see each line rather than a single figure with the detail hidden inside it.
Removal and disposal of the old floor can be arranged, priced at your quote. Tell us when we measure and it goes on as its own line, so you can decide whether you would rather deal with it yourself.
Preparation is quoted as part of the whole job: fitting usually within one to two weeks of ordering, 50% on order and the balance when it is finished, and free measuring within about 10 miles of the showroom.

Questions people ask
Do I need to empty the room?
Clear the small things — ornaments, lamps, anything breakable — and we will deal with the rest. Moving furniture is priced separately, so tell us what is in the room when we measure and we will quote it with everything else.
Do you take the old carpet away?
That can be arranged, priced at your quote. Mention it when we measure and it goes on as its own line, so you can choose whether to have us do it or deal with it yourself.
Will my floor need levelling?
We will not know until we see it, which is part of what the measure is for. If the base is uneven or loose we will tell you then, and the levelling or latex is quoted as a separate line rather than discovered on the day.
